Booklist Review

Campbell, the founding editor of Interweave’s Beadwork magazine, is no stranger to writing books on the topic, with 40 titles under no-doubt-beaded belt. Here she mixes the magic of Hollywood with the shine of Swarovski crystals as she gives her interpretation of 26 classic pieces. Beginning with a fascinating introduction about Daniel Swarvoski’s influence on couture, the book is then divided by Hollywood’s leading ladies. A photo of Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, or Elizabeth Taylor faces a crisp, full-page picture of earrings, a bracelet, or necklace that replicates the jewelry the star is wearing. The next several pages supply instructions, both written and illustrated, for making the piece. Some, like the earrings resembling those Vivian Leigh wore in a theatrical performance of Antony and Cleopatra, or Natalie Wood’s gem-studded leather cuff, are truly fabulous, but even the less-sophisticated pieces should intrigue beaders. A very glam craft book. --Ilene Cooper - Booklist
