Staycation: Minneapolis and St. Paul

Jean Campbell - Sunday, January 08, 2012

Mark's son, Will came to visit us from Italy via Santa Monica this weekend. What a great kid! He'd never been to Minnesota before, so we had a sort of "staycation", touring him around to some of our favorite places in the Twin Cities. It was a really fun-filled weekend, so I thought I'd give you a taste of some of the places we visited:

Bryant Lake Bowl in Uptown Minneapolis

View of the Stone Arch Bridge that crosses the Mississippi (taken from the Guthrie Theater's Endless Bridge)

A view of Gold Medal Park from the Guthrie Theater

Walker Art Center's Sculpture Garden in Minneapolis

Stairway at the Minnesota Center for Book Arts in Minneapolis (we LOVE this place!)

Book ball at the Minnesota Center for Book Arts

Part of an exhibit at the Minnesota Center for Book Arts

James J. Hill House on Summit Avenue

Mickey's Diner on 7th Avenue in St. Paul

We also walked around Lake of the Isles, visited the Wabasha Street Caves, went to the St. Paul Cathedral, saw a show at the Walker, and went to Matt's, French Meadow, Lucia's, and Mojo Monkey. What are some of your favorite spots that we might have missed? Let me know...I'm keeping a list going and the guest room ready for our out-of-town friends and family.
