We went to Free Thursday at the Walker Art Center last night. It's a great night to go, because all the young hipsters who can't afford the regular entry fee show up, so not only do you get to see a world-class museum, but it's great people-watching, too.
If you go, there's a superb show called Graphic Design: Now In Production there right now. One of the best museum shows I've seen, actually, that overviews book, ad, magazine, poster, and logo design. It's pretty astounding, actually.
The other thing I got really excited about is this wonderful new installation by Elizabeth Simonson, a local artist who created Instar--a beaded sculpture that hangs in one of the museum's atriums. It's magical and beautiful and come on...I can't help but get excited about the fact that one of "us" is represented in this museum!
Aren't these fantastic? I want to meet this lady...are you out there, Ms. Simonson? You're my hero this week.
I only had my Crackberry with me to take photos, so if you want to see more and better ones, check out the Walker's Flickr stream.
